Poson celebrations at the Vihara
The full moon day of June commemorates the introduction of Buddha Dhamma to Sri Lanka by Arahant Mahinda in 246 BCE as a result of the propagation of Buddhism under Emperor Asoka of India in the 3rd century BCE.
This unique and historical event was celebrated at the London Buddhist Vihara on Sunday, 7 June 2020.
As the Vihara remains closed to the public due to the Corona virus pandemic, the Poson programme was live streamed on YouTube and London Vihara Facebook, so that the devotees could participate at home. The event was watched by over 600 persons.
The programme and the live streaming was organized by the resident monk Ven K Kassapa, with technical assistance from Mathew and Gamini.
